Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Doing my prelininary task before doing my final magazine gave me more knowlegde of how my magazine should look. When i was doing the prelininary task i found out more conventions of magazines, so i knew what i had to include for my final. It helped me think about who it was aimed at because the prelininary task was aimed at school children yet my final magazine wouldnt be it could be someone completely different so I had to think about the way it was read and if it was confusing for the reader.

Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I did mostly all of my magazine on microsoft publisher, as at some times through doing our coursework it wasnt easy to access other programs.
I tried looking for fonts on a website called http://www.dafont.com/ i looked at lots of different types but non of them stood out to me as something that would go with my magazine, so i looked on publisher and used normal fonts which were better as they were easier to read and wernt really fancy because that wouldnt of fit in with the genre of my magazine. Publisher was good as i look edit how spaced out the letters were from each other, made some bold and just made things stand out.

I used photo shop to edit my photos i didnt edit them too much as i felt they were good enough and if i edited them to much they would of look fake and that wasnt what my aim was for these photos, it was to make them look natural and nice. I played around with the contrast and brightness the front cover image was the hardest to get right as its the first thing the audience will see so it has to be perfect.

Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?
Cover
-Iv put the masthead "PASSION" at the top as it is where it usually goes on a magazine but also because it will stand out it will proberbly be the first things they look at. It stands out as its in bright red captials and it has space between the letters, i placed the month and year underneath so the reader knows what issue it is.
I put my central image as a big background image because it will draw the readers attention to the main story. The coverline to go with the image is at the bottom right so people will be able to link the image and coverline, HANNAH GORDON is wrote in big red letters so it stands out then underneath a smaller cover line "music shows how i feel..." this creates an ingma and might make the reader want to buy the magazine to read about what she means.
My Second coverline is placed on the left sid. top 5 Grammy Winners!, it will stand out as "top" is a kind of buzz word showing they were the best, also its bigger than the rest of the coverline and in red to match the main bits on the cover, its also in a different font of it stands out but the reader can still tell its all one coverline. The "!" empathises the top 5 Grammy Winners showing its really something big and good like an exclusive for the magazine.
Another cover like i choose to put more coverlines but made them smaller, its giving the reader an insight to another 5 storys which are included in the magazine with a little infomation underneath the artist. I highlighted the writing in red so it pops out to the audience and still sticks to the colour sheme.
Iv put the price at the top on a strip going through the masthead as that is the main thing people look at so the "Only £1" will stand out and the word only shows its a good deal. I also put the barcode near the price on the right side, iv also placed the website for the magazine there so the reader might see the website and decide to look online for more information.
Contents- On my contents page iv placed 3 images to do with the main story running up the left hand side so it interests people in reading it. The contents colour scheme matches with the coverpage so it all links together, the black a red stand out and red. I have headings such as Awards, Celebs, Reviews and Every issue, this way its easy for the reader incase they want to read or look at one certain thing its easy to find and doesnt waste time. I have also included a message from the editor, so the reader feels more connected to the magazine.

PS-The one page of my double page spread is a image of 'Hannah Gordon' looking beautiful and confident in nice fashionable clothes. A heading HANNAH GORDON at the top of the page in fancy black writing so it stands out and the audience know who the articles about and then a subheading  in red to keep with the colour scheme, also it gives the reader something to be interested in as they might want to know about her new stuff. The start of the article it gives some back ground on the celebrity Hannah Gordon this is to interest the reader to read more and its her a bit of information about her if they dont know her that much. I put this article in a interview form as it might interest the audience because its her answering the questions and not someone just writing a story about her. I also put a date in which her new album and hairspary she is promoting comes out, I also put a image of the album cover so people can regonise it in shops, or if they like the sound of it beable to find it easily.   Most of the questions are to do with her new album and what kind of music it has on it and also a bit about beauty and fashion so people get to see a bit more of what the girlie girl Hannah Gordon is about this should grab my target audiences attention as thats who im aiming at, people who enjoy them kind of things. At the end of the article is a kind of adverisment which is offering something to do with Hannah but also something that the reader might want to buy as were convincing them its a good product.
“I Hope people like it as much as I do!”

The things that would attract me to buy my magazine are the bright reds across the plain, whitey background also the image is of a pretty model so im going to want to buy the magazine to be able to be like that, also on the cover the 5 little coverlines which are highlighted in red would interest me because it only tells you a little bit of information on it so im going to want to buy the magazine to read more.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Psychographic varibles- Iv put my target audience under the groups 'GROUPIES' and 'DRIFTERS' as they want some guidence and want to accepted and be like other people. 'TRENDIES' is another group as they crave attention from peers, so their going to want to like the same things as other people so they fit in. The image on my cover might convince my target audience to buy the magazine as the model looks glamourous and pretty and thats what their aiming to be like.

The image on the front of 'Blender' magazine is similar to mine as it has a celebrity looking glamourous, the model on my magazine and Katy Perry on 'Blender' magazine both look glamourous which attract the audience aswell as the coverlines go with the image. The images might attract girls as they might aspire to be like them and it might attract boys to buy the magazine as its a young beautiful female celebrity.

Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Masthead- I choose the masthead 'Passion' as it explains what the audiences should be like they should have a passion for what there reading in the magazine which is music and be interested in it. For my masthead of my magazine I used "Georgia" its clear and stands out to the audience, I used the colour Red as its bold and stands out.
Genre- The genre of my magazine is music because there popular as many people like to read about the lastest charts and stuff thats happening with celebrity. I know more about different types of music than say football which makes my research easier and by having it a uni-sex magazine it will attract a wider audience.

Images - The image on my cover is a mid shot on of the model which is to go with the cover story, she looks glamourous and beautiful which could a attract people to buy the magazine as shes a new artist and people will want to know more about her. On the contents i have three images of the model of the main cover story running up the left side. She is in all different glamourous outfits in different locations so it makes it interesting for the reader to look at. The big image on my double page spread is on the left page and is a mid-shot but you can still see her whole outfit and faical expression, it has the heading and sub-heading over it so it stands out and links towards the story.

Costumes & Props - The costumes i used throughout my magazine are conventional, as they are up to date fashion which is around at the moment, the clothes are aimed at the age group reading the magazine. I didnt use props as i needed feel the need to use guiters or tvs as she isnt in a band and people will know shes a singer by  but i just thought about the background of the image and made it look interesting for the readers.

Typography- For the left side cover line i used Centaur, Times New Roman and Forte for "Top 5 grammy winners" as it looks fancy and the grammys is a fancy event, it also stands out to the readers as 'top' is in red its bright and stands out. For the little subheadings such as "Plan B- New album" i used Segoe UI but when im talking about an artist I have put it in bold so it isnt confusing and the reader knows which artist is with which story, also I have put a red background on the writing as i think its looks good and links the colours on the cover together better. On the contents i used "Georgia" as its easy to read and stands out, for the headings of whats in the magazine i underlined so it stands out and the reader knows it the heading also i used red for the page numbers so it keeps with the colours of the magazine.
